What it is
Four ingredients, one capsule a day:
- Pasteurised Akkermansia muciniphila — the strain authorised by the EU as a Novel Food in 2022, and the form used in the original human proof-of-concept trial.
- Freeze-dried European bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus). The wild northern bilberry carries two to four times the anthocyanin content of a cultivated blueberry.
- A standardised bilberry polyphenol extract, so the polyphenol dose is the same in every capsule.
- Chromium, which contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.

The science, in brief
Akkermansia muciniphila lives in the mucin layer of the gut and is among the most-studied bacteria in metabolic research. A 2019 trial in Nature Medicine gave 32 overweight, insulin-resistant adults the pasteurised form daily for three months; the primary endpoint was safety, and the authors also reported favourable metabolic markers (Depommier et al., 2019). A 2025 trial in Cell Metabolism ran the comparison again in a clinical population (Zhang et al., 2025). Separately, researchers have described a protein the bacterium secretes, P9, which triggers the release of GLP-1 in mice (Yoon et al., 2021). Bilberry enters through its polyphenols: a polyphenol-rich berry extract of the same class raised Akkermansia levels in mice (Anhê et al., 2015), and blueberry supplementation has been studied for its effect on gut microbiota and insulin resistance (Lee et al., 2018).

How to take it
One capsule daily with water. Not suitable for children under 12, pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet.
