It does not add bacteria. Instead, it nourishes the bacteria you already have — with two plant-derived polyphenols, enhanced with vitamin C from rosehip and zinc. Just 2 capsules per day.

It all starts in the gut

The human colon is home to an ecosystem of more than a thousand bacterial species. This ecosystem provides nutrients, helps maintain the integrity of the gut barrier, and plays a role in immune function. Beneficial bacteria need the right nourishment in order to thrive.

That is exactly what this formula is designed to provide — a concentrated combination of two of the most extensively studied fruits in microbiome research, enhanced with two micronutrients with well-established physiological functions.

Akkermansia muciniphila — a key bacterium for the gut environment

Not all bacteria are equally important. Akkermansia muciniphila lives within the mucus layer of the colon and is involved in its renewal, which is why it is often regarded as a guardian of the gut barrier.

More than 2,400 scientific publications have investigated its role in intestinal integrity and metabolic health. Because Akkermansia is strictly anaerobic and difficult to cultivate, a more practical approach is not necessarily to consume it directly, but to provide the environment and nutrients that may support its presence.

Polyphenols — nourishment that reaches where it matters

Plant polyphenols are only poorly absorbed in the small intestine, which is precisely why a proportion of them reaches the colon, where much of the gut microbiota resides.

There, they may help reduce oxidative stress and create conditions that are favourable for beneficial anaerobic bacteria. In the scientific literature, this mechanism has been associated with a more favourable gut environment and a greater abundance of Akkermansia.

The ingredients

Cranberry extract — 500 mg (40% proanthocyanidins)

Cranberry proanthocyanidins belong to the relatively rare A-type class. Because they are only poorly absorbed, a proportion reaches the colon, where they interact with the microbial environment. Cranberry is among the most extensively studied fruits in relation to Akkermansia.

Pomegranate extract — 500 mg (40% ellagic acid)

Pomegranate ellagitannins act as precursors to metabolites produced by gut bacteria, including urolithin A — a bioactive metabolite of significant scientific interest. In one human study, individuals whose microbiome produced urolithins had a significantly greater abundance of Akkermansia.

Vitamin C from rosehip — 80 mg (100% NRV)

A natural source of vitamin C derived from rosehip fruit. In addition to its antioxidant role, vitamin C increases iron absorption — an important complement, as polyphenols may reduce iron absorption when consumed with food.

Zinc — 5 mg (50% NRV)

An essential trace mineral that contributes to the normal metabolism of macronutrients, the normal function of the immune system, and the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

  • Vitamin C contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
  • Vitamin C increases iron absorption.
  • Vitamin C and zinc contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
  • Zinc contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism.
  • Zinc contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Why Vekovia

  • Standardised extracts — with a guaranteed percentage of active compounds, not simply labelled as "extract".
  • Vitamin C from a natural source — rosehip, not synthetic.
  • Vegan HPMC capsules, with no gelatine.
  • EU-sourced ingredients and EU manufacturing, with quality control for every batch.
  • Based on published research — with clearly referenced sources.

Directions for use

Take two capsules daily with water, preferably between meals.

Changes in the gut microbiota take time. A regular intake period of 8–12 weeks is therefore a reasonable approach, as part of a varied, plant-rich diet.

Important information

Not suitable for children under 12 years of age, pregnant women, or breastfeeding women.

If you are taking anticoagulant medication such as warfarin, consult a doctor before use.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Keep out of reach of young children.
