A specific claim for a specific material
The EU’s authorised bowel-function claim for native chicory inulin is conditional. It requires a daily intake of 12 g and a particular material specification. The regulation describes a non-fractionated mixture extracted from chicory, with less than 10% monosaccharides and a mean degree of polymerisation of at least 9.
‘Contains inulin’ is therefore not the same as ‘meets every condition of the claim’. A supplier specification matters just as much as the number printed beside the ingredient.
Daily amount is not scoop weight
Microbiome Powder contains 12 g chicory inulin and 3 g PHGG per full daily intake. Those two ingredients already total 15 g, before the fruit blend and micronutrients are added.
The finished powder also contains other ingredients, so its full daily portion must weigh more than 15 g. Exact scoop weight and preparation instructions are being finalised with the manufacturer; the daily fibre amounts should not be used as scoop instructions.
Do not transfer the claim between formulas
Metabolic Powder contains 9 g inulin, not 12 g. Adding its PHGG and glucomannan does not make that 12 g of native chicory inulin. Ingredients are not interchangeable for a claim’s conditions.
We are not presenting the inulin claim as established for a finished Vekovia product while the supplier specification is unresolved. This is a guide to reading the conditions, not an instruction to change your dose.
